For the third year, Temple Beth David will be sending Hanukkah Care Packages and cards to Jewish soldiers serving overseas. This project comes on the heels of our successful Rosh Hashanah Soldiers Project in which TBD send 40 care packages to soldiers in Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, Germany, Israel, and bases in the US. In addition, about 50 cards made by local Jewish schoolchildren were sent overseas.
This year we are looking for donations of items to include in the packages. First, we are calling all Hanukkah bakers to make cookies and other backed goods to be sent to soldiers. Last year, several Temple members baked for the soldiers and they were thankful to receive home baked treats to help them celebrate the holiday. Second, Hanukkah cards, especially hand made or decorated by children. The soldiers loved getting cards and were very thrilled to receive cards from children. Lastly, personal care items like soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, and paste and baby wipes.
We ask that all donations be dropped at the Temple office by Nov. 15, in order to provide time to be shipped around the world.
If you have any questions or would like someone to pick up your donation (especially baked goods) please contact Keith Freedman.
